Red Light, Yellow Light, Green Light: The Great Commission Craft

  • Feb 9
  • 1 min read

Faith grows best through hands-on moments.

This simple traffic light craft helps children understand Matthew 28:19–20 in a way they can see, touch, and remember. Every creation will look different—and every one tells a story.

Supplies:

  • 3 toilet paper rolls OR 1 paper towel roll

  • Red, yellow, and green construction paper

  • Black construction paper (for wrapping the tower)

  • 1 pipe cleaner

  • Scissors

  • Glue or tape

  • Marker

STEP-BY-STEP CRAFT INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Build the Tower

Stack and glue three toilet paper rolls together vertically OR use one paper towel roll as a single tower.

  2. Wrap the Traffic Light

Wrap the entire roll with black construction paper. Glue or tape securely.

  3. Create the Lights

Cut one red, one yellow, and one green circle from construction paper.

  4. Attach the Lights

    Glue:

    • Red circle at the top

    • Yellow circle in the middle

    • Green circle at the bottom

  5. Add the Hanger

Attach a pipe cleaner to the top as a loop so it can hang or be held.

  6. Label or Discuss

    Either:

    • Write words on each light, or

    • Leave blank and discuss the meanings together as a group
